Effective debt payoff requires consistent, incremental payments across multiple accounts while maintaining a balanced approach that allows for meaningful life experiences and family memories, as demonstrated by a family reducing their debt from $63,000 to $50,654 over two months through regular payments while still funding family events like weddings and vacations.

April & May 2026 Debt Update | Debt Payoff Journey | Slow and Steady本站添加:
Hello friends. It is Mrs. P. It is Thursday uh evening 7:30.
My husband is out of town, so it's just me and my daughter and the animals. And we have just finished up dinner. I made some dog food tonight and made a meal for tomorrow. We're having like a a potluck at school. Um, going to have a retirement party for my work bestie. I'm going to miss her so much. I said everybody needs a work bestie like this.
I mean, the one that you can say anything to and she understands. I'm going to miss her a lot. But anyway, we are going to do my debt update finally.
Last time I did an up debt update was the beginning was no.
Um, we did a March update. When did I do this? It would be the beginning of April. So, we missed the April update and the May and we're doing the May update. So, we missed the April update.
[snorts] So, I'm going to do I've already done like my um draft or you know, whatever you want to call it, but we are going to do both months in one sheet. Um, I thought about doing, you know, April's and then do May, but I'm just going to do them both together. So, this is going to be April and May 2026.
All right. So, at the beginning of 2026, we were at 63,000 just over $63,000 in debt. Um, we did pay off Bank of America and pay sold the Explorer. So, those are taken care of. Um, we are currently working on the medical bill. This was um from where I had to take my daughter to the um the ER. I can't even remember.
Was it her chest? I can't even remember what it was now.
[laughter] Was she coughing? Maybe it was cough.
Anyway, um so we've just been paying this just with regular payments of $37 per month, but now our balance is actually at $74.
So I've got two more payments on it and it will be toast. So that'll make my son happy. He hates that I have not paid this off, but you guys know I don't want to make that phone call and I can't do it online. So that's why that is still there.
Tractor Supply. This is our current um debt that we are working on. Um we owed $3,35 at the end of March. [snorts] And so we have made in the two months we've made $1170 in payments. And so that brings our new balance to $1865, which is awesome. So this is the enclosed trail trailer. My goodness, I can't talk. um that my husband has. So, I anticipate this being paid off in the early fall. Um his truck uh when we last did our debt update, it was down to $9,9002.
We've made two payments, which was $940.
The new balance is just over 9,000. So, we've almost hit in the $8,000 range.
So, that's exciting. And so, with after interest and everything, um we've paid a total of $876.11.
And then we've got my um Pathfinder and we owed $40,7860.
We've made two payments which was 140278 which you know I see that and it's like shockingly high to me seeing it as two payments but um one of my co-workers um was talking about their husband's truck payment and it's around this amount for one month and I'm like like that's a lot. All right. So, our new balance, we have hit the $30,000 range.
$39,69065.
All right. And then 10175 is how much the um balance went down after interest was paid. All right. So, our total before was 5372.32.
Um, we made a total of $3,586.78.
Our new balance is 50,65426.
And so total that has been come that has come off of our um debt in the two months is $3,1386.
So then I like to look at how much have we paid since January and that would be 12,000 $821.90.
So that's that's to me um less than I feel like we were last year, but we were also um really funding uh my son's wedding, the travel there, and you know, every now and then I just kind of need to take focus from debt, continue paying debt, but li but live a little bit too. Um, I know that, um, my friend Katie, she just did a dead date and I meant to post on your video, Katie. Um, I hope you're watching this, but you are exactly like I am where you and your family want to pay your debt, but want to continue enjoying life because tomorrow is not promised. And even though the responsible thing is to, you know, just funnel every bit of money towards debt and getting that knocked out, I am a firm believer that spending time and doing things and making memories is also important. So, I like to balance the two.
I feel like my family is not like extravagant. We're not constantly going on trips and vacations and things like that. Um we do more than one a year, but um most of those are just going to visit my son or spending time with my other son. So, um it's definitely something you have to balance and and everybody's journey is different and everybody's journey is unique to them. So, I mean, there's always going to be people who comment on a debt video when they know that you are still, you know, doing vacations, going out to eat, things like that.
But I think as long as you don't um do it irresponsibly and you still like save up for it or plan for it, I think it's okay. I mean, when I was getting pictures um ready for my son's wedding, you know, I was looking through old pictures looking for his, you know, when he was a kid. And like y'all, talk about boohooing. Just looking at the life we've had. Um, I am very blessed to have been able to spend as much quality time with my kids and my husband and my family, you know, mom, dad, his parents, and making those memories. I just, you know, when you're I'm looking through the pictures and that's why I collect ornaments from the places where we travel is every year when we're putting the tree up, you know, we talk about, oh gosh, remember this when we were in, you know, this place or that place. And y'all, those memories are precious. So anyway, I just wanted to throw that out there. [laughter] But Katie, don't feel bad because there's others out there just like you who still want to be responsible and pay our debt, but also enjoy life. So, it's just a balance. But anyway, friends, this is the debt update. Um, I will get it posted tonight and I will see you guys tomorrow in my freebie Friday video. Bye.
