A grand jury indicted John Deer in Montgomery County. Investigators say he ordered a pill online, crushed it up, and put it into his pregnant girlfriend's drink. Court records say she described it as bitter and fizzy, and that he insisted she finish it.
Within hours, court records say she was at the hospital cramping and bleeding.
She delivered at about 14 weeks and the baby didn't survive. Now to the legal angle. Demiter is charged with abortion and injury to a child. The district attorney says this stands out because Demiter is not a doctor and has no connection to the medical profession.
Prosecutors are still using that abortion charge because they allege there was no medical reason for it and it was done without the woman's consent.
What's next here is he's expected to be in court where a bond will likely be set. And the DA says the website where that pill came from is still under investigation with the Texas Attorney General's
