[00:00:00]Focus now to some other news coming in from Karnataka this time. Hours after taking oath as Karnataka's Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar has unveiled an ambitious six-point welfare and development agenda. Promising free bus passes for students, a state-backed private employment exchange, youth empowerment initiatives, and major infrastructure spending as he sought to usher in what he described as a new youth era in the state.

[00:00:31]Chairing his first cabinet meeting immediately after assuming office, Shivakumar announced a series of measures aimed at students, job seekers, farmers, homeowners, and urban residents, saying that his government was committed to delivering on promises through concrete action.

[00:00:52]With that, let's take a look at his first big announcement. Uh there uh were a lot of in fact expectations uh from uh D.K. Shivakumar as he was uh you know, being crowned as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Uh there was the problem of Bangalore that he had to fix.

[00:01:11]There was a lot of unemployment in the state as well, and he had to look at all of that. So, here is a roadmap that he has brought out on the very first day of assuming office. So, let's look at the big announcements that he has made.

[00:01:26]Number one is free bus passes for all students across Karnataka. So, a big development for students over here who have been in fact struggling, and uh this free bus passes uh will uh the students will be able to avail and uh you know, ride within the state. Let's look at the next big announcement, which is one-time property tax relief for Bengaluru residents. Remember that a part of his uh portfolio as a Deputy Chief Minister was the development of Bengaluru.

[00:01:59]However, now that he has become the chief minister, his focus is streamlined. He's making sure that they get things done on the ground. So, property relief, one-time property relief for all Bengaluru residents will be a very welcome decision over there.

[00:02:16]Let's look at big announcement number three, which is free travel benefits extended to boys and postgraduates. So, uh travel benefits is something that he's looking forward to because a lot of people need uh to travel across the state for work, for studies as well. And I think this will benefit the youth of the state a lot, and that's what DKS wants to focus on.

[00:02:39]Let's look at the big announcement number four, which is private employment exchange to tackle unemployment. So, he's stating that he would they the Karnataka will set up a massive uh employment base that will look at making sure that the unemployed youth of the state get some sort of employment, get some sort of incentive, uh and work.

[00:03:04]Let's look at the next announcement, which is 10,000 youth associations to be formed across the state. 10,000 all clubs of youth to be formed across the state to make sure that their voices are heard, to make sure that their welfare is taken care of.

[00:03:25]Let's look at the next announcement, which is around 2,000 crore grant uh for all Bengaluru roads. Remember that Bengaluru had been losing out to its neighboring states uh there uh in terms of being an IT hub. And as it is, it was in fact developing a lot of problems of infrastructure were coming up in Bengaluru like potholes, uh like traffic management. and hence uh D.K.

[00:03:54]Shivakumar's first big announcement comes in development of Bengaluru because they do not want to lose that investment that they have been draining out to its neighboring states over the past few years in the IT sector as well.

[00:04:10]So, this is uh the next big announcement that we are in fact looking at, and obviously everybody was expecting him to focus on Bengaluru, to focus on the youth, and that's what he's delivered on the very first day of his office.

Uh Bellie, we're obviously seeing a road map for a youth-led a new future for Karnataka as well as for Bengaluru, which had been seeing that uh it's it had in fact been losing its sheen over the past couple of years, but now we know that D.K. Shivakumar has taken the reins of the state, and he's making sure that investment comes in, that the youth get employment, that welfare is the focus of his government. Bellie.

[00:05:05]>> Absolutely, uh Shivani. So, in in his first cabinet meeting after um taking charge as uh the Chief Minister, uh D.K.

[00:05:13]Shivakumar announced a series of initiatives focused on youth welfare, infrastructure, and employment, uh positioning the new administration's agenda around what he has called as uh the Yuva Yuga.

[00:05:27]The decisions include uh free bus passes for all students, establishment of 10,000 youth clubs across the state, and a rupees 2,000 crore road repair program, uh relaxation of building norms for select residential constructions, and the launch of private sector job exchange portal. So, free bus passes will be provided to all students from school to post-graduate level studying in both the private and public institutions. And students must apply for it is what he has announced. And sources said that the bus pass mode is expected to cost around an additional 250 crore as the state is already providing subsidized passes for male students and free travel for girl students under the Shakti scheme. So, Shivakumar has also announced the the creation of around 10,000 youth clubs to be called as Bharat Jodo clubs with one club in every gram panchayat and urban ward across the Karnataka.

[00:06:25]Each club would receive a grant of 10 lakhs. So, a slew of measures that Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has announced in his after his first cabinet meeting.
