Muscle mass is crucial in fibromyalgia because muscles serve as metabolic organs that regulate glucose metabolism, release anti-inflammatory myokines, and support mitochondrial function; reduced muscle mass leads to larger glucose swings, sympathetic nervous system activation, and neuroinflammation, which can worsen fibromyalgia symptoms and hinder recovery.

Fibromyalgia: Why Muscle Loss Matters 👇Added:
Why muscle mass matters in fibromyalgia.
Hi, I'm Dr. Mark and I've helped thousands of people with their painful conditions. So, muscles are or muscle mass or the lack thereof is important in fibromyalgia because musculature is more than just for locomotion or support body support.
It also plays a huge role with your metabolism.
And what happens is when you eat the glucose goes in your bloodstream and the muscles soak it up. Turns that glucose into stored glycogen to be used later to supply a steady flow of energy in a later time. And if you don't have much muscle, then you lose that ability.
There's bigger glucose swings. These glucose swings can lead to a sympathetic dominant state. It can lead to neuroinflammation and possibly worsening your fibro symptoms. So, the second thing that muscles do is they act like an endocrine organ. They every time you contract, they pump out these little myokines that are messengers chemical messengers. They work on the central nervous system.
They help with neuroinflammation. They help with beta oxidation. This is fat burning mechanism. And they do some other things. So, they kind of even out inflammation and also again work on your mitochondria work on your metabolism.
And these all these functions are important with being able to maintain a decent capacity in order for you to aid you on your road to recovery in fibromyalgia.
