Nature’s ingenuity is often as gruesome as it is efficient, turning a predator into a literal surgeon to bypass chemical defenses. This is a fascinating look at the relentless evolutionary arms race between predator and prey.

Flat Backed Millipedes, mud, miniatures horses/pony attack, horny goats and kukri snake
a pig party around here. There are so many. There's one there.
Got the rains here. We've got another one.
Down here.
There's another one. They're so cool.
I love them. They really do. There's also some really cool little guys which are like giant wood lice. And somebody else hiding here. Oh, although I might have stepped on him by accident. Sorry.
And somebody else there.
We had a big storm.
Check it out.
But everyone is super happy.
It's rained all morning.
Um, and you can see the flush of green that's creeping through everywhere.
So exciting. Look, it's going green.
And here you can see everywhere. Oop, sorry for my fingers.
The green is coming. The place is transforming.
Absolutely transforming.
You can see all the little seedlings, bits of grass coming. Okay, so I want to show you this guy.
This is the um fascilated cook snake or also known as the small banded cook snake. Um and it is uh this particular one is nonvenenomous.
Um but they have very very very very sharp curved teeth. Um, and they feed on frogs and toads and other amphibians.
But what's amazing about them is that they um they to be able to feed on frogs and toads um and toads of course they can um make a horrible poison excrete a poison from their skin um which is what how they um prevent predators from eating them. So, if if you're if you have a dog um and there's toads around, don't let your dog um try to play with the toad because the poison in the skin of the toad can actually make your dog pretty sick. Um anyway, this one, what they do to avoid that poison is they Oh, I have something on my screen. Hang on. is they actually eviscerate using their teeth.
They open up the stomach um and they feed on the liver, the heart, and the lungs. Um and so they avoid the poisonous um excretions from skin. So it's pretty cool. Um okay, let me just stop and try and wipe my screen. So they uh bite them, they crush them to death.
Um and then and then they um and then they eviscerate them and eat the insides so they don't get affected by the toxins of the toads. So this one I found the other day. The was trying to play with it. Thank god it's nonvenenomous because these markings here are very similar to the Russell's viper.
Um, and so I picked him up, um, and popped him in a box. He's also about to malt, which is why his colors are so, um, you can see his sort of creamy.
He looks like he's, uh, he's not really very bright at the moment. So, he's about to mol. And I was hoping that he would mol for us, but, um, I want to release him because he's been in a box for a couple of days and it's miserable.
Um, and he hasn't molted yet. So, time to go. Time to go, little buddy. So, release him. It's the perfect time.
They're usually nocturnal, so I was surprised to find this one out and about in the middle of the day. Um, anyway, he's he's off now. Um, but going to start seeing more of these guys out because now with the rain, we've got more um more frogs and toads and other amphibians which are coming out from the ground. So hopefully we're going to see lots more snakes.
So cool.
But very calm. Very, very calm this snake.
Super cool guy.
Little goat update. Um, I'm here with Mary and obviously I have Napoleon. I think Mary is in season because everyone's sniffing her butt and the poor girl is not being left alone by all the boys.
Look, all of them running after her.
Must be miserable. But then there's the babies.
Song.
And they are very sweet boys.
Mary.
Mary. Mary.
But she's doing really well. Hi Mary.
Come for a cuddle. Come on. Yes. Yes.
Come for a cuddle. Try not to let Napoleon Napoleon.
Napoleon.
Poor scarred face from fighting.
This is Mr. Boss Man.
Little butt sniffing.
>> They make such weird noises, goats.
>> Yeah, you make the weirdest noises, Mr. Beardy Man.
>> Yeah, you do.
And then here we've got I don't know if this is No or no idea >> which one is which. Maybe not.
I was hoping to get um pakito misbehaving, but everyone is strangely quiet today. I mean, they all think that it's food time because I'm out here.
Um hi buddy. Hello. Hello, dear old man.
Hello, dear man. Oh, he's still so affectionate, this guy. I do love him.
Very affectionate. And he has the most wonderful beard. Look at this. Look.
Look at that beard. It's quite fantastic.
And Mary, she's got a lot of milk. Look.
So, the babies are doing really well.
She's She's eating well.
Making plenty of milk. Oh, some more bum sniffing.
Did you see that? Do you see that? He's sniffing her bum right behind you.
And you haven't noticed.
And who was that just kissing my leg?
Was that you? H.
There are some amaz I mean this guy, look at his beard. It's fantastic.
Hey buddy.
I mean they are very friendly goats.
Some of these guys.
I like this chap too. And some of them won't let you touch. Hello.
Great goats. I know you are looking pretty chunky, my friend.
>> He's got a neck on him. My god. It must be from all the fighting that they've been doing. But his neck, I'm sure it wasn't this big when he came. Super muscular.
Super muscular. And these little boys practicing.
A lot of practice going on for all sorts of things.
They are very sweet. They've grown so much.
It's the tongue thing I can't get over.
Hey, cuddles. Yeah, I'll stroke your beard for you. Yes.
Yes, I will. Yeah, good boy. You're a lovely boy. You should give you a name, too.
Not everyone has names cuz to be honest, it's been hard to tell them all apart.
And guess who's here next to me?
Hello, Beasty.
Hi, Pakito.
How's life?
You got gunky eyes. He needs to get your eyes. Gunky eyes. Yeah.
Good boy. It's about to rain. And there's his dear friend Ricky.
You guys not playing today. Oh, you really do have a gunky eye, don't you?
You can get some. So, a good tip for gummy eyes like that, which they get from the flies sometimes, is cold tea bags. Um because the tannins in the tea al also really good for stopping bleeding on like minor cuts.
But the tannins in the tea um are very soothing.
Um and they have antibacterial properties. So um and because I'm English and I like to drink tea, I mean I drink coffee, too, but I like to drink tea. So I have some tea bags. So, I always keep some in the fridge, which is specifically for treating eyes. In the UK, um, I've grown up on a farm with horses, and we always keep a load of tea bags ready for just this situation. You see there's some flies really bothering it, and it's obviously a little bit sore. Don't bite me, you little beast. Don't bite me, you little beast. Now, Wee is coming in for some love. He wants scratches. This is Aito wants some scratches. Don't you?
Yeah, I know. And that eye looks really sore. Look at him. Oh, let's go and get a tea bag for your eye. H. Hey, don't bite me too, wee wee. Don't teach your boy bad manners.
All right, brushes. Hi, wee wee.
It's a horse attack. It's a horse attack. A miniature horse attack. the miniature horse attack.
Thankfully, if this was a big size horse, this would be not a sensible place to be. But thankfully, he's so tiny that I can easily fend him off with my own leg.
Yes, I can. Little monkey. Little monkey. Wee.
at her lips. She has such good lips.
Okay, enough people. Enough. Enough. Wee wee. Wee wee. She's jealous.
All right, guys. Let's go and get some brushes and some tea bags. And Msy's come to see what on earth I'm doing on the floor. Haven't you Motty?
Yes.
M.
Hi, Ms. You are a dirty girl. What a dirty girl you are. What a dirty girl.
What a dirty girl. I know. Your eyes are looking good even though they're full of mud. H. Yeah.
Okay.
Right. I'm going to go and bathe this little chap's eyes. Oh, put your willy willy away. Put your willie away.
Okay.
All right, people. The reasons that all these guys are out is to find a mate.
So, there is a lot of piggybacking going on everywhere.
Um, love is in the air for the millipedes and probably for these little They look like wood lice, but everyone is at it.
So nice.
