I Made a Working Death Star with Create!Indexed:

Every time I make something with Create, you guys always ask for something even crazier.
Yep, that sounds about right.
Let me just get back a little bit further to get it all in frame. Uh, so this is the outline of my Death Star.
And I have a feeling I'll regret this later because it is 161 blocks wide. The one thing I do know is I am not building the rest of this by hand.
Yeah, I'm going to be honest, guys. This was definitely a huge mistake. Look at this thing. It's so big. What kind of idiot thought it would be a good idea to make it 161 blocks wide? You know what? I'm I'm in too deep now. I'm committed now.
There's no turning back. First things first, I need to convert this to a physics object, which means I need to get some honey glue out and select this entire thing.
Selected area is too big, dude. I I haven't even gotten to the build yet.
I'm just changing the config. I'm putting it surely 250 is enough, right?
We're going from 48 to 250, maybe. I mean, it looks like it's going to work.
Please. Oh, that's I'll take it. I guess it works. Now I just need to assemble it.
Pull the lever, crunk.
Oh, come on, guys. I feel like the game is trying to tell me something. It's whatever. We have to press on. We have to just edit more config files. It should be this one. So, if I just chuck another zero in here, will that work? Take two.
Hello.
Oh, I think it worked. Oh, I messed up the honey glue.
This is about to be the most impressive thing you guys have ever seen. Surely Oh, wait. I'm an idiot. I can just glue this back on.
So, this needs to glue here.
Look at this thing. It's so stupid. What am I just like?
Okay, it's time to stop messing around.
We got to get serious. The first real problem is I need to figure out how the heck I'm going to get this massive thing up in the air.
I think this is how big I'm going to have to make my balloon. I know it's like comically large, as if this entire build isn't comically large, but the main reason is because the total mass of this is 16,857.5.
Technically, it's kilo pixel g.
Basically, I'm just going to call it kilog. But I I have a feeling I'm going to need a pretty big balloon to lift this thing up. I hadn't really thought through how I'm going to make the full balloon when it's already a physics object.
Being able to glue all this stuff together is just the best. Oh, look at that.
Aerodonics is the goat.
You know what? I'm starting to think a hot air burner might not be enough to lift this entire thing off the ground. I I think I may have to get some steam engines going down here. I'm going to need some blaze burners heated up with blaze cakes, some fluid tanks on top of them, and a little setup to pump water in. This should be good. Now, the only question is how many of these steam vents do I need to throw down on top of here to get this thing in the air? Oh.
Oh, I think it's finally getting off the ground. Not much, but it's getting there. There we go. Yes. Yes. The comically large balloon is giving us lift. This is This is so good cuz I've genuinely been really concerned that I wasn't going to be able to get this monstrosity off the ground. This thing actually went really high. But I'm pretty sure if I adjust the redstone input here, I can incrementally make it go up and down because it'll adjust the output of all these steam vents. Isn't this exactly what I need for what I'm trying to do right now?
If I push this button, it should incrementally start going up, which should slowly turn those on. Oh, I see it. It's It's very slowly starting to move. Maybe one more push.
There we go. Okay, we're starting to go up and it should level out way lower than it did before.
Looks like it's almost stabilized. And this is way lower than it was before.
But if I push this button again. Yep.
So, it incrementally makes the redstone signal a little bit stronger and it'll start going up again. But if I push this one, it should start taking us down.
Yes.
That's awesome. Yep. That is definitely floating in the air. So, one problem has been fixed. Uh, the next one is a pretty obvious one. This thing does not at all look like the Death Star other than the fact that it is generally a sphere. So, I kind of need to fix that. Please don't break anything. Please don't break anything. Oh, I'm so scared. Are we good?
Oh, I have no idea what just happened. I'm starting to think maybe the devs knew what they were doing when they set those config settings.
So, uh, I'm done building, but we've kind of got a little bit of a good news, bad news situation going on here. The good news is I think this thing looks awesome. It took forever to make, but I tried to be as lore accurate as possible. And you know what? If I clear all the effects on me, take a look at it now. Yeah, it's still missing so much, including the massive laser super weapon that's going to make it look perfect, but it's already looking so good. So, yeah, that's the good news. The bad news is uh I totally forgot that wool and stone have completely different weights.
And that means that when I reassemble this, I will have completely bricked the entire weight of this build and then the entire lift system inside of it. Oh yeah, and I accidentally removed all the honey glue around this. So I have to rehoney glue the entire thing. But hey, at least it looks cool though. I need to verify everything is within this honey glue before I assemble this again.
That'll be really bad if something is hanging outside it. Oh my god, I changed it from 16,000 to 65,000.
Oh no. Yeah, I'm going to need way more lift up there. But before we do that, can we just talk about how awesome this looks? Look at this thing. The juice will definitely be worth the squeeze.
But man, I can't believe I messed that up.
I'm really hoping two steam boilers is enough to lift it. So, it's time to just slap a whole bunch of these down and see if it goes up. Oh, I feel like I see it starting to jitter a little bit. It's almost there. Come on. Look at it. It's wiggling. It wants to go.
Come on, man. Just get off the ground.
Yes.
Thank you. Oh, that would have been so so bad if that didn't work. I guess I might as well just use up all of the steam that these are generating and see how high it can go. Two fully maxed out steam boilers is crazy. Okay, it is officially back in the air, which is great. But now it's on to the next thing. I need to be able to move this left and right and forward and back. Uh, so I am going to do that with creative thrusters from create propulsion since I believe the Death Star did move using ion thrusters. So I'm not being cheaty, I'm just being lore accurate. I'm going to put two thrusters on the front and back for horizontal movement and two more thrusters on the left and right to generate torque. I think that's really all I need to be able to move, but I do need to hook all of it up to redstone and figure out what the different settings need to be on this cuz it can vary a lot from what I've seen.
I have spent ages tweaking all kinds of settings with the forward and backward thrusters, the left and right thrusters, but I think it's good. So, if I put this seat down.
Oh my gosh, it already looks so cool.
Okay, now to see can we move it properly. So, forward. It's very slowly moving forward. I don't know if you guys can tell, but it is. Maybe maybe I up those a little bit and then turning left and right. Can you see? Can you see it's turning? Oh, so it does work. I might need to up the speed a little bit for each one. But the Death Star is supposed to be slow. It's this monstrous thing.
So, it does work. Oh, man. I can't get over how awesome this looks. And it's it's all coming together now. But it's still missing the single most important thing. the massive laser super weapon at the front of it, which I don't really know how I'm going to make it, but cue the montage music.
Oh, wait. Scratch that. Scratch that. I need to disassemble it first. Don't cue anything yet. Please don't break.
Come on.
Oh, we're good now. Cue the montage music.
I will be the first to admit that making this was infinitely harder than I thought it would be. Probably mostly because I'm terrible at world edit, but it still turned out great. So, there's a lot of work to do, but this will be the dish for the laser weapon. And I tried my hardest to make it a relatively flat dish because I see a lot of people that have done it before where they cut out a huge divot like a sphere. But my understanding is it is more of a flat dish instead of a a massive sphere cut out of here. So, all that said, it's not even remotely close to being done yet.
There's still a lot of work to do on the laser. At this point, I've lost track of how many times I've pulled and unpulled this lever. Hopefully, this is the last.
Now, I can add in all the lasers that go around here that technically make the weapon, but in our case, will make it look really cool. And luckily, Aeronautics adds in the laser pointer, which if you give it power, makes a laser, and you can dye it. If you guys see where I'm going with this, this definitely isn't why they added these in, but who cares? It is perfect for this.
Man, rotating all of these into place is going to be such a pain. I mean, they they look really cool, so it'll definitely be worth it. But this is about to be really brutal.
Well, I got two of the easier lasers set up. Uh, and this is the setup that I'm using for the not easy lasers that need to be rotated on multiple axes where I can push one of these and it rotates 5° one way and then I can push another one of these and I just have to keep adjusting it until they meet at the correct point in the middle, which is terrible. Like eventually it'll happen.
So I just have to keep doing this. Oh, and it's stuck on that block. Okay. And then it's it's almost there. So that if we just Oh, is it in the right spot? Oh, it's so close. But you know what? You guys get the idea. So I need to do that for all the rest of these. And the only two that don't suck are that one and that one. This was a terrible idea.
Hey, hey, hey.
Oh, it's finally done. I don't even want to tell you guys how long it took me to get all of the lasers lined up. It was absolutely brutal. But the good news is it looks absolutely awesome. I mean, look at this thing. And the even better news is I can finally come in and break all these different things here. I can just start getting rid of all these annoying things that I used to line them up. And the only things that need to stay are the two swivel bearings, which will stay rotated, and then the laser pointer, and I guess technically the redstone link. I guess I should also try to kind of fill in this hole around them. Although, I can't do much cuz I can't place anything in any of these blocks since this is technically in the way. Maybe I just kind of like fill in behind it here as best I can. I don't know. There we go. That looks moderately acceptable.
Oh. Oh, that was almost so bad.
Thank gosh it turns back. Okay, so a block cannot go there. Noted.
Yeah, that felt so good to get rid of all those. And I think I did a pretty good job closing all the gaps up as best I could. Uh, unfortunately, the only problem with this is the lasers look really cool, but they don't actually do anything. Nothing. Nothing is happening to the planet that is currently out there getting hit by this. So, I do need to fix that by adding in some kind of weapon here. Oh, I wonder what kind of weapon I'm going to use for this.
Is that lined up properly? No, no, no, no, no, no. One more. Is that I maybe one more? I don't know. I can't tell.
This is so stupid. I can't believe I'm back to lining stuff up again. I got what, like a five minute break from it.
Yeah. So, if you guys couldn't have guessed, I made a cannon. A relatively big cannon. And for my cannon, I specifically used this quick loading breach at the back here. mainly because it's really easy to set up an auto loader for it, which is going to be important that I make right here because eventually I'm going to be sitting all the way down there. For the auto loader, I'll need two depots over here. And then each one of these is going to need its own chest. And each chest is going to need a funnel pulling out of it. This one is going to be for whatever shell I choose to use. And then this one is going to be for the cartridge I use to propel that shell out of the cannon. And finally, I'll need another chest over here with a smart shoot so that the empty cartridges can be unloaded into it. I guess I can also link everything up right now with the mechanical arm.
So, it'll take items from both of these.
It'll deposit items right there. And it will also need to deposit stuff there.
So, that should be good for the most part other than needing to pick what I'm going to fill all this stuff with.
Yeah. I mean, I think the only option here is to go with the H bomb shell.
This is by far the most destructive. I gota I gotta go with it.
Okay. Well, I I guess this is at least partially loaded now. And dude, if this is not lined up properly, I'm actually going to blow up the entire build. You know what? While I'm saying that, I'm getting rid of this block. I don't care.
I'll leave a bigger hole at the front. I I can't risk blowing this up. Imagine the Death Star blowing up because of a bad building decision. Am I right, guys?
Do you get it? I'm also going to use this big cartridge as a propellant. And I do have a data pack for this. So, uh, you can see the added muzzle velocity is very high right now because my data pack makes it, I don't know, 10 20% more powerful. Mainly because I need the shell to go in a perfectly straight line and it'll have an insane amount of drop unless the velocity is an absurd number.
So, that's exactly what I did. I don't fully know if it's going to work, but it should work. Now, I've got the lasers all good to go. I've got the cannon ready, but I need some kind of redstone setup to make the lasers turn on in sequence so they look realistic, and then the cannon to fire at the exact correct time. Wait, this is another aeronautics redstone block that does exactly what I need. That's crazy.
My brain is absolutely fried, but I think what I have here should work to make the entire laser and cannon setup look extremely realistic. I'm actually really proud of this, so I'm going to nerd out for a second about it. I tried to be as lore accurate with this as possible. So, when I push to fire everything, this beginning part starts charging up the outer lasers with the strength going up by one every three ticks. And that's going in here. And then eventually when it gets to almost full power, it'll trigger the middle laser which comes over here. And then that also triggers the cannon to fire.
And then once that's fired, it will slowly power down the middle laser and the outside lasers at the same time. So it should look exactly like it does in the movies. I'm also realizing now that a lot of the stuff I'm saying is that it should work. I have not tested any of it. So, it's possible it goes terribly wrong. The last piece of the puzzle is now that I have this crazy destructive system up here that probably works, I need to be able to aim it. So, I don't really know how I'm going to do that yet.
Okay. Uh, I think I may have figured it out. And this is either the smartest thing I've ever come up with, uh, or the dumbest thing. So, I have this swivel bearing here that I think I'm going to use to rotate the entire outer shell of the Death Star, and I'll make it go forward and backward using this directional gear shift. The only problem now is I need to disconnect this middle part from the outer shell, and then glue this onto this, which I feel like is going to break something. Disconnecting all this stuff is a horrific feeling. I just It's one of those things I have in the pit of my stomach where I'm like, I know something's going to go wrong, but I just have to do it. I'm taking this down to the ground before I do anything.
I don't know if that'll help. Ah, nothing happened. I'm pretty sure all I need to do now is glue from this to this.
Did it work? Surely I had assembled. I swear I had assembled this. Okay, wait.
No, this is bad. This is not good.
No, you freeze. You freeze. I could fix this. I just need this to attach here again.
Oh, I think I got it. I think it was because it was locked in place. But it's really hard to do that when it's not locked in place.
Oh. Oh, I think it's kind of working.
Oh, it's going to make me get sick. It's going too fast. Somebody help.
Oh, did it work? It's on a slower speed.
Oh my god, it works in the dumbest way possible. It's rotating the balloon part in the middle because that has less mass than the outer part, but then the balloon is stabilizing itself upright, which then rotates the outer part in the correct way. So, now that this is done, I just have to wire up all these different redstone components to a controller, and the build is finished.
>> A few minutes later, >> before I test anything out, I just want to take a second to show how awesome the contraption diagram for this looks. I The build is so cool, but when it's depicted in this way, it looks absolutely sick. I love this. It's so cool. Also, I just want to show you guys this real quick since I know you'll probably ask. Uh, unfortunately shaders do not work perfectly with the Death Star because they're broken with the actual laser beams. But it still looks awesome with shaders on. The build in general looks crazy, but it looks especially crazy like this. Oh, it's so good. Okay, it's time for the final test, and I'm extremely nervous.
The steam vents are on. They are working. We are getting lift. Nice. And now that I'm in the air, I can move forward and I should be good to slowly rotate. Yes.
Okay, it's working so well. But that's not even the best part. It's time to rotate this bad boy into place. And I'm realizing now I have no way to know where the weapon is aiming. Surely that won't be a problem. Firing the weapon in 3 2 1 fire.
Oh, maybe I should have tested that out first. Oh, it just loaded everything. Oh my god, that's insane. Oh, I want to use it again. I've found the perfect target for my next shot. It's a birch forest and I'm gonna take it out with one single shot. Here we go. Look at the lasers. It looks so good.
Oh, look at that. Oh my god. Oh, just wait for it to load in. Oh, just wait for it to load in. Oh my Oh my. It's not enough. We got to go again.
This is This is by far by far the coolest and craziest thing I've ever made. All I'm saying is the Star Wars universe would have been a whole lot different if I was the one making the Death Star.
Fire.
Oh.
There's no way.
