This performance reclaims the Grand Canyon as a living sanctuary, asserting that indigenous sovereignty is sustained through spiritual practice rather than legal recognition. It poignantly exposes the irony of "trespassing" on land where one’s ancestral identity is fundamentally rooted.

LEGALLY TRESPASSING, GRAND CANYONIndexed:
No description provided by the creator.
Lavina.
My name is Lvina. I am Walapai and I come from the Pine Springs band. We are birds singing and dancing down here on the Colorado River. And our language in Walapai, we call it Haka.
>> My name is Sukra. Um from the Wai tribe.
I live here in uh Peach Springs, Arizona. And um currently uh do my best to learn how to bird sing. And other places that we go in Arizona that our people used to go and they used to sit and pray for days, you know, without food, without water and they would just sit and pray and you know the songs would come to them and that's how we got our songs and they were given to us that way. They talk about the land, they talk about the water, rocks, birds, hence the name, you know, bird singing. Some songs are used for social gatherings where everybody can dance. Come and dance. If you know non-natives were to, you know, come and see that, you know, they can come and join and dance because it's meant for, you know, healing. It's meant for protection. It's meant to make you feel good in your heart, your spirit to feel good. That's what these songs are about. It's to help you help others.
The Grand Canyon is viewed as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. And we have opened up our home to share the natural wonders and the beauty of this area.
I am my for my for I am my for for the west, for the east, for the north, and for the south.

My country tears of thee, sweet land of poverty.
for the I land where my mother cried.
Land where my father died.
Sweet land of genocide.
Pride of my heart.
My country teaser the sweet land of industry will break your back.
Clean out your minerals, fill you with chemicals.
We care for what is profitable.
Oh concrete world, our climate suffering.
All nature feels the sting.
Poisoning progress.
All of these mouths to feed.
All of this land to seed. From sea to shining sea, gold underground, our people left to die.
Shadowfield, countryside, paved over graves.
So privileges make decoles.
Broken cities, broken promises.
Conquer repeat.
Where my warriors at?
And so I feel like what has been said many times tonight and I appreciate the sentiment that we can say this now at this time in this generation that prayer is the most G thing you can do homie and I can say that for my life for things that have happened in my life the anger for the pain for the hate that I've carried heard that forgiveness and therefore remembering to pray for those that oppress us is the one powerful testament to thank.
So this blessing for my warriors is saying all warriors represent those who forget the time is now to walk with humbled pride.
Prepare and forify.
Jesus comforts of compromise.
Pray for guidance.
Pray for guidance.
Pray for guidance.
>> Hey Oh my people.
All nations unite.
All my people.
All nations unite.
Oh my people.
All nations unite.
All my people.
All nations unite.
All my people.
All nations unite.
All my people.
All nations unite.
All my people, all nations unite.
All my people, all nations unite. I'm on the verge of everything. We liking to be surrendering so honestly. Tiptoe to the edge of my destiny. Free fall backwards great mystery. Speaking to me the pain of the youth, the confusion of the people and the struggle for truth. Time to regroup and knew the ambition of a nation.
Zombies treading on the gay foundation.
Wasting creating a stupidity among us.
Turning our back on their mother.
Look at what we've done. These people are relentless, senseless, violent, and racist. But finding inspiration in my dayto-day endless positivity can definitely be contagious, persuasive, cuz I'm speaking my truth. I got pennies in my pockets, but I'm picking fresh fruits.
Cuz I live in a land of abundance.
I live in a land of abundance. Where the rain off my roof is sacred and precious.
And now we get the round can be found in riding horses.
>> Enormous with the courage that we like to front. Bringing it back to the land when there was food to hunt. I got one last thing on my mind.
I'm learning the language of the planet we inhabit and stab it with the chemicals that we practice and have had it with habits is tragic. This trajectory course of we're on separated from the dirt from ourselves from the song of robot sing to his heart. I will kill for God and I will keep my mark and I will stand like a fool for three color the treason. Nobody's bombing me but other countries are weeping chopping the mountains in half. Can't you hear the screaming?
Blood oil for dinner. Better have an appetite cuz we rape, pillage, and plunder. So you can heat your house tonight.
>> I remember.
I remember.
I remember.
I forgive. Give, give, give.

We are the ones. We are the ones. We are the ones we've been waiting for.
Oh my empower people put you ones up.
Oh my empower people push you on up.
Recognize our tribe. They're independent and restless. Searching for purpose beneath the rubble and then recon directed. That meant it start with me.
Forgiveness starts with me. Stop blaming other people. Take on the responsibility of generations to come. May they live in a world without governments and guns.
>> Your people killed my people. My people killed your people. But our people are one people. United compassion for humanity's sake. We wake and meditate in the light of a new day. New chapter in the book of a thousand tongues. We shall overcome.
>> We are the ones.
We are the ones. We are the ones we've been waiting for.
We are the ones.
>> We are the ones.
We are the ones we've been waiting for.
actually a reminder. I forgot about that spirit. My fist is up to the people.
Your reflection of us. Some of your people can't hear it. The cries of the earth. Some of your people can't feel it. The way that it hurts and it hurts.
Great spirit. Oh, and it moves. Great spirit interconnected in the record. You I'm on it way out. It's way out.
Speaking of spiritual lyrical testimonies, a spirit of lyricist weaving around false prophecies directed in selective with the message I bring while the ships. All these things I've been directed to sing. I'm like a wreck and bar breaking down the walls of the past. A minimalist living on bliss with the last of my cash. You're going to be justified with how you treat cheated the land. Going to be by my side when I stand and media.
Oh, great grace spirit.
Oh, great grace spirit.
Oh, great grace spirit.
Oh, great grace spirit.
Temper.
>> So which wolf will you feed?
One makes you strong, one makes you weak.
And some will stay and some will leave.
And those who know and those who seek amidst the chaos find your peace.
Which wolf will you feed?
One makes you strong, one makes you weak.
Amidst the chaos, find your peace.
I know it's worth >> you guys doing all right.
And I do want to thank this time. I think we've been thinking for a while, but all the people that have volunteered here over the week and donating their time, you know, people that are doing production and the lighting and all the security and the people that are attending the fires and the people holding ceremony here this weekend. You know, music is activism and and I'm really proud to say that I'm a part of a generation that's bringing back that truth, you know.
That's inspirational.
>> And so this song I want to play for you now is um it's a song that I'd like to also dedicate to my brother Xavier Rudd who's going to be up here shortly.
And I want to say that I know lots of us have come very from very far parts of the earth and different corners of the earth. And Xavier came all the way from Australia to be here with y'all this weekend.
And we both felt it was very important that we be here. And I know that all of you felt it was very important that we be here, all of us together. You know, this song >> is dedicated to the ceremony of this time under this moon. And and for all the things that we'd like to wash away and and put in the past and so we can move forward in this beautiful future that we have here. So this is dedicated to the Aboriginal people of Australia.
but also to the indigenous people of the world as we are all world citizens of an indigenous planet. So this song is for all of us.
We're a part of something special.
We're a part of something special.
We're a part of something special.

Uncle Mana taught us like an older took a older brother. He said, "This is powerful country.
This is powerful country." And we felt like we were returning to our land rebels and the shepherds of the sea.
The takers are taking what the levers will leave. So greet me the black prince.
Such a loud voice for a tiny creature.
Teach me to let go of all of my pain.
I do forgive. I don't forget these things.
I do forgive. I don't forget these things.
We burn the blue gum for a safe passage way. Drink of the earth, smoke of the dirt. And my painting was red oak clay.
My war painting was red oak clay. Okay.
Red oak clay. Well, our prayers ignited and cast out into the song of our struggle came straight from the fire. It goes, "Holy, holy, grandmother we sing. Wash us clean of our pain and suffering.
Give us strength for our new beings.
In my deepest things I'll sing. It'll wash away. It will wash away. Lift them up. It'll wash away. It will wash away.

Gave me your hat and your past in one hand. He said, "You've come to be with the rainbow serpet." Red hands, red land, red worship.
Red hands, red land, red worship.
Just in her bush. Mama crying in the chasms for a stolen generation and the children that have it. Come home. Come home. Stay home.
Come home. Come home. Say my bullets are my words and my words are my weapons. Shame me to that pipeline for our rivers and mountains we scream.
Today's a good day for my ego to die.
Today a good day for my ego to die.
Spirit live on in my heart, in my body, my mind.
In my body, my mind.
Then sister crow came with a murder that day. So we tattoo the bird nation onto our faces. She said we sing to let go of all of our pain.
We dance the story to remember when things changed.
Remember when things changed.
Remember when things changed. Holy, holy, grandmother we sing. Wash us clean of our pain and suffering.
Give us strength for our new beings.
Emily thanks I'll sing. It'll wash away.
