Hey guys, welcome back to the channel and this week we have an update on a brand new Kraken clutch. Let's go check her out, then we'll look at the clutch.
So guys, the pairing on this was our original Kraken 1.0. And just to recap, when she hatched six years ago, back in 2020, she was absolutely revolutionary.
We were blown away. Completely unexpected result. It's our first time working the Wookie gene into the black pastel GHI stuff. And I think on our very first video of her, she was so complex and so weird, we wildly overestimated the number of jeans in her. This, I believe, is Mojave GHI yellow belly black pastel Wookie Clown.
She's actually relatively simple. Let's see how she looks now.
So, here she is at 6 years old. You can see that she's lost a lot of that gray look. You have a lot of color coming in, some kind of oranges, some rusty colors.
And although it still has all those awesome little like suckers on what I call sucker imprints on the tentacles on her body, she looks very very different and the contrast is not so high. Now, she's given us two different clutches over the years and this second clutch is one that we want to show you today. The male we bred her to was a spotnose red head G. Um, hold on.
So, I pulled up and clutched. I want to make sure I get this right. This is the spot-nose chocolate yellowbelly redhead hypo clown. So, we were trying to get the chocolate Wookie interaction, which is like a super form. Of course, spot nose also can give you some of that dark night stuff. And then the dad was hypo because the mom it proved out to be head hypo. So, we're looking for some visual hypo stuff. The babies really blew us away. Let's go look. So, what I love about this is unlike the original Kraken 1.0 or the Kraken 2.0, You know, we were guessing at genetics, trying to figure it out, trial and error, but now we have shed testing. So, we get to show you these babies with the actual shed tested genes. Right here, we start with the super form. This is a chocolate Wookie clown, GHI yellow belly. So, GHI yellow belly, chocolate Wookie clown. So, we have the superform, chocolate Wookie together. They are slightly different, right? They're not actually the same gene because the testing for them is slightly different, but they are alilic in the sense they look very similar.
They make a super form. This has GHI and yellow belly in it too. It's a cool snake.
Then we have the spot nose brought in.
So now you're working with the Look at this. You have a little bit of that Kraken 1.0 look starting to come in here because you have different way of almost getting to the same thing. Let's see if I can get him to un unwind a little bit.
So you have this, you see very gray snake. This comes from the black pastel GHI interaction that gives you that really gray look. Thing is this one is missing both chocolate and Wookie. It just missed. So we have a GHI black pastel spot nose clown head hypo. And just look at that. Look, you can see a lot of those same elements but still missing a little bit of the genetics.
So, it seems like the GHI black pastel was responsible for a lot of that pattern. It's just the color was a little different. Um, and the pattern's a little different even though it has spot nose in it. But man, shed testing really helped with that cuz I would have guessed it had Wookie or chocolate in it as well.
On this one, we're back to a super form of the chocolate Wookie together. This one is black pastel chocolate Wookie Clown. So, it's missing the GHI. It's missing the yellow belly.
And you're just getting the basically the super form plus black pastel. And without the GHI, you no longer have the tentacle look at all. You have just a really, really awesome kind of melted sides from that chocolate Wookie interaction. And this beautiful deep rich colors. Very, very cool. Which is why I think we named that project chocolate initially, right? Because or it was named chocolate just because it's such such a rich look.
Now this is baby number four from the clutch and I really really love this combo and just has great contrast and quite interesting I think. So to me this is one of the most interesting ones to the eye just because you have those chocolate looks but you also have some brightness of pattern coming through.
You have a lot of lines kind of in the pattern here at the bottom half and the front half but then just the kind of sporadicness of the pattern. Now, this one tested out as black pastel spot nose Wookie Clown. So, basically, it's like a black pastel Wookie version of the Dark Knight, and I just love love the color.
We we're still kind of looking more at that Kraken 2.0 look, but still don't have GHI in the mix. Quite a quite a unique combo. I love how blanket looks here towards the bottom half of the snake. It's quite quite cool.
Okay, so this next one also wild. Now the dad was a red head, right? Red head, wookie, chocolate spot nose.
So remember dad was chocolate spot-nose, yellow belly, red head, hypo clown.
Okay, so this one tested out as black pastel, red head, wookie, spot-nose clown, het hypo. And it just has such great color. I think there might be red stripe as well working in this one. is just quite unique. Quite when we saw this pattern for the very first time, we only saw like this much coming into the egg. We saw a little bit of this ringer coming up here and this really weird pattern which looks nothing like a clown. Of course, we saw the rest of the body. We're like, "Okay, I can see the clown elements." But it was quite a surprising result and just a beautiful, beautiful tone through the snake and this will be a really interesting one to see kind of grow up a little bit. Our first taste of the redhead kraken project in general. Look at the color coming down here. Even the very very bottom of the animal. And for some reason ended up with a pure white belly.
Honestly quite unexpected. And we're just learning about these interactions as we try them for the very first time.
All right guys, we're working into the two visual hypos of the clutch and they are just amazing. Honestly, I couldn't have asked for it to hit on better looking snakes.
Just look at that expression right there. To me, this is the natural successor to that whole Kraken project because it's the visual hypo and it's just so beautiful. Now, we shed tested this one as black pastel, yellow belly, Wookie spot nose, hypo clown. So, it's a Wookie Dark Knight plus yellow belly and black pastel essentially. And just has a wild, wild look. Look at those sides. I just love how the hypo brings out the color a little bit. And you have this dotting here of all the sides here. This kind of orange spotting as it goes down into those yellow belly sides. It does have that pure pied white belly and the pattern just looks to me like hieroglyphics and it pops off the background so well color-wise that to me I think this is just honestly probably the best looking baby the clutch but we'll show you the brother just for comparison. Look at the difference between these two. Now in this one we have the super form. We have the black pastel chocolate wookie hypo clown without the spot nose. So you see how the spot nose really changes the pattern when you're going into that dark night look versus when you go just the soft tones of black pastel Wookie and chocolate all together gives you this really really translucent deep deep color basically where you can kind of like see right through it. I love this look as the contrast but this is a very very very powerful snake and I love honestly the blue of it almost blends into the background here of the table itself. These two animals are really kind of the highlight and especially amazing to see kind of full circle from 2020 we create that 1.0 that Kraken 1.0 and then we after a while we hatched an amazing male put it back to her and now we have hypo versions that are kind of working in that same thread that are all amazing. We still want to create the 1.0 as a visual hypo and seems like sometimes the simpler ones are hard to miss. We're going to keep working on it.
Hope you enjoyed this video. Be sure to check in next week. We have some awesome new content for you. Be sure to like and subscribe. We'll see you then.
