Pre-sprouting gladiolus corms involves placing them in a container with water just covering the bottom where roots emerge. The pointy side should face up, flat side down. Check daily as water dries quickly. If squirrels are a concern, start indoors near a window for natural sunlight. Succession planting involves starting new batches every two weeks for continuous blooms. Pre-sprouted corms show visible growth within one week and can be planted directly in the ground.

Hello friends. I hope you guys are doing well. Welcome, welcome. In today's video, checking off another task and my checklist. I'm going to pull up these beautiful bubblegum petunias. Okay, you guys heard me talk about these. This is definitely my favorite annual. I would say these ones are the Super Tuna Vista bubblegum from Proven Winners.
And friends, these are hardy from now until frost. And they will get 12 to 24 in wide. And they prefer photoart sun.
And deadheading is not needed. You don't have to come out here and pick and dead head the blooms at all, you guys.
So, but these friends, I told you guys, wherever you put them, make sure you give them the spot where they can spread out. Okay? I'm going to insert a picture with my flamingo garden bed few years ago. They spread out, okay? They're their own stuff, so they need to shine.
Don't put them with anything else. Okay, let me go back over and get the other one. All right, friends. So, don't mind my setup. This is going to turn out amazing. Okay, I could picture it already. So, let me show you what I'm doing here. So, I talked to you about the bubble gum patunia, how they spread and all of that, right, friends? So, look what I got. I got three hanging baskets from Aldi. Friends, you have to check out Aldi. They have such good finds over there. And these were only $4.95. Okay, $5. They are the 14 in hanging basket. And it comes with the cocoa fiber liner. As you can see here, it says rust resistant powder coated metal. All right, so I have three of them. Actually, friends, I don't even own a hanging basket because I feel like with hanging baskets, I'm always thinking you have to put some kind of hardware in the ceiling of your porch, right, to hang them from. So, that's why I never got into hanging baskets. But hold on, let me show you what I got from Ali's Bargain Center. Yes. So, I got this beautiful foldable planter. Let me get a tag for you.
Here's the tag.
Okay. It was only $11.99, friends. Yes.
And I got 15% off. And it says it fits up to 18 in hanging basket powder coated finish indoor outdoor use. And it's 19.7 in in diameter and 47 in tall. Look at it. So this is the intention behind the hanging basket. Yes. So it comes folded, right? So you don't have to rub a space.
Just tuck it away somewhere under your bed, right? If you live in an apartment or something. And this is what it looks like when you put it together. Look at that. Absolutely gorgeous. And it comes with the hook right here to attach to a hanging basket, too. So, I got two of them. And I'll share with you where I'm going to put them. And then I have this shepherd's hook from Ali's Bargain Center. This was only $8.99 and it is 48 in tall.
So, I'm going to pile up the three bubblegum patunias in those hanging baskets over there and then attach them to these beautiful pieces. I am so excited. Look at this.
This is a statement piece. Okay, I just love it. And then we're going to move on to another project, friends, from Aldi grocery store. They have gladiololis friends. 250 250. Look at this gorgeous red. Absolutely gorgeous. So, and here is this one. So, this one is Trader Horn. And then this one is Priscilla.
Look at that, friends. Absolutely beautiful. And you know it, these friends, they come from Holland. Yes, I love the Garden Line brand at Aldi. You find a lot of good finds there for the garden. Absolutely. Check them out. 250.
Okay. I think they were probably $6. So, they have them on clearance now for 250.
And they have dalas, they have all different kind of bulbs. They have canon lily, they have kala lily, they have normal liies, they have gladiolis, they have so many different bulbs. And they're good. They're good. They're really good. So I'm going to show you how I'm going to pre- sprout these. I'm going to sprout them for my friend. I have a ton of gladi. So these are going to be for her. So, I'll show you how to do that. If you never tried it before, I'll show you. And with gladiololis, friends, you do need to stake them. And I'll show you how I stake mine. I have in the garden. These will get 40 in tall. What you can do is plant them behind other plants to like add a support, natural support if you don't want to go and st them or I sprayed some tomato cages and I just stick them in the garden and I leave them on. Or you could use different trellis just for them to lean on. But I strongly recommend if you haven't tried gladiololis, give them a try. You'll love them. So, let me get these all potted up. I am so excited, friends.
4.95. Cut up my petunia in here so that way they can just spread out and just create a beautiful vignette in the garden. So, let's get the soil in the petunias and I'll show you what it looks like after.
All right, friends. So, I've been doing some compost here with dry leaves. But I've been trying to make leaf mold. Look at that.
And I have some grass clippings and I mix it with some soil.
So that's what I'm doing here. So this will be So this will add really good nutrients to the soil. All right. So here is our plant. Very easy. So I'm just going to center it right in the center of the planter. Press down it firmly. Add more soil around it. And that's it. That's how you plant a hanging basket. Really easy.
All right, friends. And the third one.
Where else to put a beautiful bubblegum vista patunia but in a flamingo garden bed. Here we are. So the third one is going to go right here. Oh friends, these hanging baskets are heavy.
You know what? I think I need to adjust it because it's sitting by there on the sidum. But let me adjust it. But I'm loving this.
All right, friends. Oh my goodness. It's drizzling. But guess what? I'm continuing here. So, we're going to pre- start or pre- sprout the gladioli. So, this is what the coms are looking like, friends. Look at that. I can't believe such a beautiful flower will come from this comb. Unbelievable. Just I'm just amazed by nature, right? So, just sit them here. You don't need any special distance apart. Remember, just going to sprout them. And let me point out pointy side. That's a pointy side up top. Flat side below.
And I think the these are really easy to tell, right? If you're not sure, you can see some roots are coming from there.
So, pointy side to the top, flat side down.
All right, friends. So, they're in here.
And what I did, I used one of my fork just to separate them. I'm going to give these to my girlfriend. And I like that with these, you can see they're more ready looking. So, there you go. So if I mix them up, I think I could probably determine which is which. Okay. So question for question is friends, how do we do these? So we're going to put enough water just to cover the bottom of the coms. Okay. Don't be covering them completely. You just need enough water to cover the bottom where the roots are and then they will wake up and they will start to grow for you. And if you look closely right there, these two in front of us, you can see the points already coming out. Do you see that?
You can see the points already coming out from them, friends. So, just a little more water. And I was thinking, friends, I was going to take these inside on my kitchen floor because I'm like, oh, the squirrels are going to come and eat my coms. But I have Let me show you what I'm going to do here. So, this is the water level you want. Okay.
So you see how they're sitting in the water level and you have to check on these every day because the water is going to dry out. If you have a problem with squalls, you could start them inside. Just rest them on the floor by your window where they get some natural sunlight and then the growth point will come out from them and then you could put them in the garden. Friends, you can actually put these in the garden as is right now, but I'm going to pre- sprout these for her. Okay? But you can put them in the garden now. You don't have to do what I'm doing here, but I think I prefer this method. And just a side note for your gladiolis friends, you can do succession planting. So, for example, I could just say I could just do 12 today and then next week I do the other 12.
So, I'll be getting blooms consistently.
Okay, just a side note there for you friends. Look at my nostrum. Okay, look at these. Been babying them, starting them. Look at that friends. So excited.
What I'm going to do, see this? I love these nursery containers. I'm going to cover this like this. And guess what?
The squirrels are not going to bother them. And I even put a rock on both ends just in case if it gets windy, the rock can keep it down. Yep. So, I'm always in my garden every day. So, I'll come out tomorrow check and then make sure the water did not dry out because the water will dry out quickly, friends, from this. Just a side note there for you. See? And that's it. And then I'll I'll probably see her maybe in a week or so. Within a week, friends, you'll see the sprout comes up quickly. These grow really, really quickly. So that's this project. Check out Aldi. Okay, friends.
I keep stressing to you guys, you can curate a beautiful garden on a budget.
$250 for this. $2.50. Check out Aldi, friends, for beautiful bulbs that you can put in your garden that will give you summer and fall blooms.
All right, friends. And here's an update of the gladiololis that we started. See what I'm telling you? One week. And look at this. So, these are perfect to put in the ground. Now, you don't have to do this, but I like to do this. I feel like I just prefer to have control of what's going on with them. I can see them. I know they already sprouted and I just put them in the ground and they will take off for me. And that's it. One week. And look at this growth. And as I said before, you can do succession planting where Okay, so I could start these now in two weeks, right? I can start more of these. I can start more of these in two weeks. So what happen is that I'll be getting more blooms when this batch is done. I'll be having more glio is blooming for me. But you have to count backwards and see when you should stop doing every two weeks. But I like to do another batch a little from two weeks from now. But I'm not going to. These are just for my friend as I told you before. But I just wanted to show you how you can pre-spert gladiololis. And once again friends, I just had this cover over them preventing the squalls from getting on them. Yep.
And when I'm in the garden, I just take it off. But you have to cover them because I'm telling the squirrels might probably have a feast with your gladiolis. And that's it. And you can start them from inside, but I just prefer to have them out here because I'm always outside. So that way I can take care of them. I don't have to worry about them. All right, friends. Let's check out the bubble gum patunias that we did together. All right, friends. So, I'm done putting my beautiful planters together. And here is the end product.
Look at this. It's been one week since I've done it. They're doing so well, friends. And with your bubblegum super patuni, you do not need to dead head them. They're self cleaning, so to speak. Whereas a lot of patunia you have to pick off the spent blooms to encourage and all that. These you do not. They just self clean themselves like that. But look at it.
They're very resilient to the heat. They love the heat. They're not going to scotch and all of that for you. For in my opinion, these have been the best patunia I've ever found ever. Okay. I love them. Strongly recommend them. So, in no time, friends, as you saw, this was only one week. This is just gonna spread and create a beautiful mound. It is so beautiful. And I've seen why they look like a ball shape the way they grow. Yes. I can't wait to see how it's going to look in this. But it's going to be so beautiful. Very, very happy with my bubble gum petunia. And I love these friends. Remember, check out Aldi.
$6.99.
And Aldi, they have been putting their garden stuff on sale. But they probably leave them on the shelf for two weeks and then they just put them on sale because I noticed with my Aldi, at least I could talk for my Aldi, they have a lot of new products that just keep coming in. So, they don't have enough space to just mark them down and put them to the side. But I got these for original price because I didn't want to wait, you know, to for them to go on sale. But anyways, and then look at it.
As you can see, it's in the flamingo garden bed. Absolutely so excited about my bubble gum. And let me take you and show you where I have the other two.
All right, friends. I was trying to figure out where to put the other two, right? And let me show you where. I think they look so pretty here. So, I have one here. This is my veggie garden bed. And I have the other one here at the end. So, let me back up and show you what it looking like. Don't mind the other mess around it. See that? Looking good. And our potatoes, friends. Our potatoes. Look at our potatoes that we did. Okay, I don't want to get distracted here. But this is what I did here. I just put them at the very front.
And I think it looks so pretty. And I must admit to you friends, I was using the wheelbarrow and the same day I knocked this over. Oh my goodness. You could see the mess there. That poor thing looked like it was going to die in me. But because what happened is that the basket fell face down. Yes. And look at it. It has bounced back. Yeah. So whenever I maneuver here, I have to be careful not to get too close to it. But I absolutely love these two. I think they look so nice here. They really do. And I'm so tempted to get more of these hanging baskets. But I more of these hanging planter thing. But I don't know why I would put them. I just love the look. I think they're very unique way of hanging. if you don't want to worry about your porch. As I said to you, I've never hang anything on my front porch because I don't know how to. I might have to get a hole on I don't know how to and I just don't want to be bothered.
And with hanging baskets, friends, you have to make sure you give them the support because when the soil gets wet, it gets really, really heavy. And then if you can't reach up, you have to probably get a ladder to reach up to water your plants. So, if you're like me and you don't want to be bothered, these are the perfect way to display your hanging basket. truly recommend them.
Once again, they're from Ali's Bargain Center. They were $11.99, I think, with my 15% coupon. Yes, I truly love these.
I think they're so unique. I'm really thinking of getting more, but we'll see.
But this is my creation for a unique way to use the Bubblegum Vista Patunia in a hanging basket. All right, friends. I hope you enjoy this video. All right, friends. Let me know down below if you have tried this Bubblegum Vista. As I said, this is a must for me everywhere.
If I don't buy any other annual, this is a must. Definitely recommend it. And I told you guys before, it is hardy. So friends, what I'm going to do, I'm going to take this whole thing inside the shed, okay? And keep it there and I know it will come back for me or even in the garage. My garage is unheated and I definitely know it will come back because I've left it out in the ground before and I noticed it came back. And that's when I say, "Oh my goodness, it do come back." like you just have to give it extra mulch or something like that and then when spring come just cut clip off the spent dead looking stuff but in the fall don't touch it that's what I did I didn't touch it I just leave it alone and somehow it just they just came back so I think I'm going to try putting them inside a shed or put them in the unheated garage because you know plants are expensive. They really are. But I truly love these and I'm so excited about this. I love sitting on the patio and looking down here and just looking at these beautiful patunia. And you guys know I love my odd numbers, right? That's why I got three. Two there and the other one there. So, wait until the colors come out, right? You're going to be seeing a pop pop of this beautiful pink behind here. All right, friends.
Thank you again for being here as always and I'll give you more to what's going on. All right, friends. One off my checklist. Thank you as always. Take care of yourself and I'll see you next video. Chairs.
