I don't believe that we should mindlessly embrace the newest thing without consideration for the real consequences people are already experiencing. When Donald Trump ran for office in 2024, did you believe him when he said that we should reindustrialize America?
Did you expect that we would bring back textile mills? Or were you one of the people ironically sharing AI videos of Americans returning to the factories and working over sewing machines and looms?
Do you work in an office or a factory or a hospital with a server room? How many racks of servers are in that room? How many people have a full-time job maintaining those servers? Are you familiar with the water cycle? What happens to water after it's used and evaporates? Every 4 years a presidential candidate has some new infrastructure bill because of our crumbling infrastructure. If infrastructure needs updated or expanded, who's going to pay for that? Should those costs be deferred to a business that has a need for massively updating and expanding that infrastructure? Do you believe that we could experience labor shortages as a result of mass deportations? How do you think we should fill the gaps in those shortages? Do you ever use chat GPT at work? Does it make you more productive?
Or do you think we'd all be better off if we just got rid of these tools entirely? When you talk about AI replacing people's jobs, which job specifically? Is an electrician or an instrument tech or a nurse or orderly?
Is their job at risk? Or do you think it's mostly going to be HR ladies or accountants? Do you feel the same way about QuickBooks or Bambi replacing people's jobs? Are these just risks from an emerging industry? Or is this a failure of good governance?
