[00:00:03][music] >> Hello everyone and welcome or welcome back to Pens With M's. Thank you so much for joining me. This is the final installment of our buying TWSBI pens from Taobao. So there were China exclusive pens that I wanted to pick up and I wanted to try buying them through Taobao. Now, recently Taobao stopped shipping to the United States. So you can't buy directly from Taobao even if you're comfortable purchasing in Chinese, you now have to go through like a third-party. So I went through Superbuy. I've used them before for other things and I thought this would be like a good try. I purchased from the official TWSBI store on Taobao. Taobao is a lot like Amazon in that it's just a reseller, so you can be an official TWSBI store on Taobao the same way you can be the official TWSBI store on Amazon, okay?

[00:00:57]So I made purchases from there. Just to give you an idea of how long this took, um this I placed the order on the 9th of April.

[00:01:08]So that means that I paid Superbuy for the items and they purchased them on Taobao for me. Um the items from Taobao arrived at the storage location, so basically Superbuy's warehouse, on the 12th of April. So for those keeping track, that is 4 days from me making the purchase with Superbuy to Superbuy receiving the items. I then asked them to ship the items on the 14th and they shipped them out on the 15th of April. I received the goods today. Today is the 16th of May. So it was a little It was like 32 days for the items to get from China to here. Um and now I'm sure you are asking yourself, "Well, okay, Emma, that's great, but how much did that cost you? So, um um the total for the two pens, I did order two pens, are was $145.78.

[00:02:04]I will talk about the actual cost of them when I open them so you can see like what each pen cost. And then shipping cost $37.17 total. So, maybe there was a faster shipping option. I I selected the the most affordable one. You can select your shipping when you go through Superbuy. So, if you want a more expedited shipping and you're willing to pay more for it, you can do that. Um I I didn't see really any need for it. 30 days, a month is fine for me to wait for pens. I'm not I'm not that hard up for pens. I can I can wait. Um so, without further ado, let's crack into this baby and see what it looks like inside. I have not opened this. So, you are going to get my 100% unadulterated um experience. I opened it up to make sure that it is what I thought it was and then I stopped. So, let's do this thing. So, opening it up.

[00:03:05]Let us begin with the bigger package because I would like to get all this wrapping out of the way. And I did try this open, but I haven't unwrapped what is inside.

[00:03:16]Now, when you get the package, they do take a picture of it and they send you that picture and you can ask them to open the goods, all sorts of things.

[00:03:22]Superbuy does give you a lot of options.

[00:03:25]They also give you a lot of bubble wrap.

[00:03:29]Um Now, if you know me, you know these are pink and and girly and whatever. It's it's who I am.

[00:03:36]So, it comes with a TWSBI bag, which I love. So, this is I guess cuz it comes from the official TWSBI store, it has a TWSBI bag.

[00:03:44]And then here is one.

[00:03:47]And then let us open the other one. And yes, I'm going to open both of these and then I will open the individual boxes.

[00:03:53]So, this one also should be a TWSBI. I need to slit the package.

[00:04:00]Yes, I just have random X-ACTO blades hanging around. No, I don't need your opinion.

[00:04:04]Um and then we have this one.

[00:04:06]>> [clears throat] >> Um and another bag. I love it. I have two TWSBI bags. Holy cow.

[00:04:11]Very nice. Um like I said, these were from the official TWSBI um store, supposedly. Um and you know, they do have TWSBI stores in in China. Like it is an official thing there, so I'm not surprised.

[00:04:27]But, I am very happy to have received the bag. I'm trying to fix the camera a little bit here so that you guys can see better. There we go.

[00:04:34]All right. So, without further ado, I'm going to put these down over here.

[00:04:38]I'm going to have to flatten.

[00:04:40]Um let's start with this one. I'm guessing this is the Eco.

[00:04:44]So, I did buy an Eco.

[00:04:48]And it has these over here. So, this is an Eco 1.1 stub. I do like to slash them. And oddly enough, I feel like my TWSBIs usually have a different um like a rounder one there. That's interesting.

[00:05:02]Yeah, the TWSBIs you buy in the States have a rounded like a rounded one.

[00:05:09]And then this one that came from China, it's squared edges.

[00:05:14]And that might just be, you know, different packaging for the pen itself and maybe it's not consistent. But, I do find that interesting. All right. So, I've now sliced it open.

[00:05:23]And let's open this up and see what she looks like inside. So, as with all the other TWSBIs, it's got its literature.

[00:05:30]>> [gasps] >> What? So, this is one of their painted ones.

[00:05:35]Okay, so this pen is the Sakura model.

[00:05:39]And it's got or cherry blossom, and it's got these beautiful designs on it. Now, they are raised.

[00:05:46]It's clearly not um like part of the resin, right? It's It's a design on top of it. So, it could peel off if you're not careful with your pen.

[00:05:56]This isn't a pen to be rough with. Um it's feels very sturdy. Like if I scratch it with my with my nail, like it's not like it's not flaking or anything, but I also wouldn't like take an X-ACTO blade to it. It does say not to use rubbing alcohol, and I can see why. So, this pen is gorgeous. I wanted a white TWSBI, and when I saw this one, I thought, "Perfect." I did get the stub nib. I know everyone is so shocked. Um but this is actually my first stub nib ever uh on a TWSBI. So, I'm really excited to try that.

[00:06:31]Um so, this is the first pen.

[00:06:33]As with all TWSBIs, it does come with the grease. It comes with the little um twisty thingy. Wrench. There we go.

[00:06:41]Wrench. It comes with silicone grease and wrench. I don't know if that's what it's called. Um and it's It's just an an Eco.

[00:06:48]And I am super excited about this one because I love my Ecos. I love my TWSBI Ecos.

[00:06:54]And then this one is what made me place the order. This one right here.

[00:06:58]Um So, let's crack into it. This is my first non-Eco TWSBI. All my other TWSBIs are Ecos. And I figured what better pen to branch out in the brand than this one. Because if you know me, you know that I've been lusting after the pink one. Um and this is that. That is it This is the pink one. So, the pink TWSBI Mini Let's see what it looks like. Oh, shut up. She's so cute.

[00:07:37]I've wanted a pink TWSBI for so long.

[00:07:39]Like and she is Okay, that's why she's called the Diamond. Do you see the faceting on the on the demonstrator portion?

[00:07:52]This is the Eco Diamond. No, sorry. This is the TWSBI Diamond Mini.

[00:07:57]And the faceting is beautiful. And this pink is a baby rose pink. It is She is beautiful.

[00:08:10]And I did get her in the medium because that was the broadest nib they had.

[00:08:16]Now, with these you can change out the nib quite easily. And I might do that. I might switch the nib to be a a broad or a stub.

[00:08:25]I have to see like But she is a demonstrator.

[00:08:36]Make sure I'm not Yep, she's a beautiful beautiful demonstrator.

[00:08:48]So yeah, this is an adorable little cap that screws on. She's super tiny. Let's compare her to the TWSBI Eco. I don't know why I put her back in the box.

[00:08:57]These are both girls. They need to be named.

[00:09:11]So yeah, that's her compared to a TWSBI Eco. Here's my other TWSBI Eco for comparison. These are the ones I have here. Um my my ivory one is with my five-year journal.

[00:09:27]She is a beautiful beautiful pen. These are gorgeous TWSBIs. But yeah, definitely smaller than a regular duh, right? It's the Mini.

[00:09:35]When it's uncapped Let's see what it looks like uncapped.

[00:09:40]I'm just going to put this one to the side.

[00:09:45]So, here she is uncapped. That's a big difference. That is a big big difference. And actually, ooh, don't leave.

[00:09:51]Uh when I hold her, she's actually not She's a little too small uncapped. I mean, unposted.

[00:09:57]Um you can post her. It's, you know, a delicate experience, but Oh, no, not really. Oh, yeah, it is. Okay.

[00:10:04]I was like, does it feel delicate?

[00:10:06]Oh, it screws on. Okay.

[00:10:09]Hold the phone. Yeah, I was like, I wonder what those are. Yeah, so it'll screw on.

[00:10:14]And when it's posted, it's bigger than the actual Eco. So, that's that's cool.

[00:10:23]That feels really nice in the hand. It doesn't feel like a mini pen at all when it's posted. And the fact that it screws on is really nice.

[00:10:29]Okay, very cool.

[00:10:32]Very very cool.

[00:10:33]And then, of course, this is gorgeous gorgeous pen. Now, I feel like because these are Chinese pens, we do have to put Chinese inks in them. I mean, I know they're from Taiwan, and I'm not going to have the conversation about Taiwan versus China.

[00:10:44]It's complicated. I Yeah.

[00:10:47]So, I feel like maybe I should put some of my new um Kitty Ink Pot inks in here. But first, first, it does come I got so excited, I forgot about this. What does this come with? So, this comes with this ink. All right, so we're back. This is the TWSBI ink, and we're going to swatch that per usual with my new little drink stirrer. I do need to get my wand out. Um I have it. I just, like I said, I need to unpack everything. My life is not in shambles, but it's still in a suitcase.

[00:11:17]But I am hell-bent on getting this stuff recorded because I'm so excited.

[00:11:25]Oh my god, this color looks gorgeous.

[00:11:29]So, let's Let's try here.

[00:11:32]>> [sighs] >> No way. No stinking way. Okay, I can just put this straight in the pen. It's gorgeous the way it is. It doesn't need another ink. This is it.

[00:11:45]It's a pinky brown.

[00:11:47]Because this pen couldn't be more perfect, it's it's a pinky brown.

[00:11:51]Fantastic. San fantastic. Oh my god, I'm going to put this here so it doesn't fall everywhere because I'm in love with that ink now and I don't know if I'll be able to get it again.

[00:12:00]That's gorgeous. That's like a more um vibrant version of Sailor Ink Studio April, which is, as you know, my favorite. I'm actually going to swatch Sailor Ink Studio April right next to it because I just have to know.

[00:12:15]I still love I had I I showed my video of what my work bag looked like and I'm so sorry for the audio video quality on that. It was horrible.

[00:12:26]>> [laughter] >> And my friend Mandy commented, "Oh my god, I can't believe you just have the bottle like floating randomly in your bag." And I I was like, "Yeah, I'm a disaster. What can I tell you?"

[00:12:37]No, I have to have the ink with me even if it means it has to come in precarious ways. Yeah, so this is as that one's drying, I can see that there's a big difference um in the tone, which is which is good cuz I don't like having the exact same ink a thousand different ways, right? Like it's better to have different inks.

[00:12:53]But you see what I'm saying? It's got that same like brownie undertone.

[00:12:58]Yeah, that's awesome.

[00:13:02]So yeah, let's let's find good inks to ink these up.

[00:13:08]I do like the TWSBI ink, but I I do think I'm going to hold off on filling it with that. I think I'm going to definitely use a different ink. All right, I am back and I have chosen the colors for these two beautiful pens. So let's go ahead and swatch them. And here is I'm going to do it with my usual usual suspects.

[00:13:32]I will say um well, I'll I'll go through it. So, we're going to do that and then I'm going to talk to you about the pricing for each of the pens.

[00:13:40]So, um let's start off with the Eco.

[00:13:46]So, this one was a special edition.

[00:13:49]Obviously, it had the sakura blossoms painted on it. This one was $64.07, which is in line with what I would expect for like a special edition. I was very excited to get it in the stub. And so, I I feel like that was a really fair price. And that included the shipping to the warehouse in China, not to me. Okay?

[00:14:09]Again, the shipping to me from China was $37.17.

[00:14:14]So, that was for both pens together. So, this one I have gone ahead and I have inked with You Are the Champion of Coffee by Fanyantong, which I love this color. Um I did an entire unboxing of these colors from So and So.

[00:14:29]And I I don't know. I I love this one. This is what made me make the order. So, you'll see that in either I've already released it or I will release it. Um so, let's just put this here. We're going to do TWSBI Taobao experiment.

[00:14:59]Let's go with that.

[00:15:01]Um and now you can see the color that's in it. So, I chose this one because it's a really pretty pinkish cop- pinkish um brown.

[00:15:13]And it's one of my favorites. I knew when I saw this one swatched somewhere that I needed an entire bottle. And so, I just went ahead and bought the bottle. It was just like I knew it was going to be a thing. I'm not even going to fight it. We're going to just go with it. So, um you may have already seen this one swatched on my channel, but we're going to swatch it again here.

[00:15:35]And it definitely has pinky undertones.

[00:15:37]Like, it's so so beautiful. I love it.

[00:15:41]And I do like doing this in a circular swatch.

[00:15:45]And there's plenty of space here, so it shouldn't be a problem.

[00:15:48]And then I was going to use my dip nib, but I don't need that because I have it in this pen. So, here we go.

[00:15:57]This is TWSBI.

[00:16:02]And then this one is literally called TWSBI Eco.

[00:16:09]Well, that was horribly written.

[00:16:11]And this is in cherry blossom.

[00:16:18]And this has a stub.

[00:16:21]And it's a 1.1 stub. That's the stub that comes with with TWSBIs.

[00:16:26]TWSBI Ecos. And this is Fanyantan.

[00:16:35]You are the champion of coffee.

[00:16:48]I love this pairing so much. It is so pretty. I probably could stand to put a pinker ink in here, and I might next time.

[00:16:58]Um I can already going to tell that I'm going to write with this pen like crazy.

[00:17:02]Um it's it's a given. This is going to be a favorite pen. I can feel it already.

[00:17:07]The next one is of course the pièce de résistance.

[00:17:12]This one is the Diamond Mini in pink.

[00:17:17]And this pen cost $81.71, which again, I thought was very fair for a uh TWSBI Diamond Mini.

[00:17:28]And I also felt that it was fair because it was a special edition one only through China, blah blah blah. I went to look at what these were going on AliExpress when they finally became available on AliExpress. They were going for over $100.

[00:17:38]Um so now granted, I did wait over a month to get it and I did have to pay $37.17 in shipping. But I I feel good about the price, 100%.

[00:17:49]So this one has Fanyantang Spring White Space. And I will say in order to get this to um fill, I did have to put the ink in a separate vial because it wasn't um These are horrible for for filling fountain pens. They're super cute, but wow, did I learn that they are no good for filling fountain pens, so that was interesting.

[00:18:14]But this is a beautiful beautiful pink.

[00:18:15]You'll see it dries down to a gorgeous very light pink, which I thought was perfect for this.

[00:18:21]Um yeah, big big fan.

[00:18:30]And this one does have that medium nib on it.

[00:18:32]I will most likely be purchasing a stub nib for it because that's what I love. But for now, it is perfectly acceptable.

[00:18:43]TWSBI Diamond Mini This is in This is in What is this called? Just pink.

[00:18:57]And it's in a medium nib.

[00:18:59]And this one has Fanyantang.

[00:19:06]Spring White Space.

[00:19:20]And I will say I do love the way this nib writes. I haven't tuned it at all.

[00:19:23]It just writes beautifully straight out of the gate. So, um yeah, I'm very happy with it. I'll probably keep it as a medium for a little bit before I go ahead and replace it, but I'm pretty certain I will be replacing it. Um I did want to compare the amount of ink that these hold.

[00:19:44]All right, so if you look here at the size of the ink well, so like how much ink it actually holds, it's like about half, maybe a little bit more than half, but I'd say it's about half. Um which for me works really well.

[00:19:56]I'm probably going to want to change this one quite frequently because it's going to be an everyday pen for me. Um I will say I already feel myself wanting the stub in this one. So, I'm probably going to just go ahead and order that. Yeah, I'm I'm in love with this one. It just writes so beautiful.

[00:20:17]It also just feels really nice in the hand, right? Like there's no um it doesn't feel too small, right?

[00:20:25]Like sometimes with smaller pens, like my Kaweco Kaweco can sometimes feel really small. Um and that that one doesn't. This one I I think I just love this one because of the stub nib. Um and yes, I'm that crazy person who will write Yeah, it's just that it's a stub.

[00:20:41]I'm that crazy person who likes to post their TWSBIs. So, um take that how you will. I don't mind it being being really big on the back.

[00:20:49]Um I like big pen but never mind. Uh Oh my god.

[00:20:56]All right. So, yeah, those are the pens.

[00:20:58]Um again, I had a really smooth experience buying from Superbuy.

[00:21:05]Sadly, I think this pen is gone. This one might still be available. I'll leave everything linked down below. Um I really had a very stress-free experience shopping with them. Everything came really well packaged. I loved that I could get my pictures of the items. I could have them open them and take pictures if I wanted. Um I did not want to, but I very well could have, and they came in excellent condition, and they are very obviously TWSBIs. It It has the inside part. It's hard to show, but it that is as it should be. Um and it is also in here as it should be, right? It has that same mechanism that you would expect uh from these these TWSBIs. So, I am I'm thrilled. So, yeah. Hopefully, you found this useful.

[00:22:15]Um I'm not going to talk about why that is.

[00:22:18]I'm just going to say it. Um if you are not in the United States, you need to use Superbuy or some other um third party. And so, that's what I'm linking down below. So, if you're in the UK, you can just go straight to the Taobao link and order from them, and they'll ship directly to you in the UK.

[00:22:35]And they'll deal with all the um tariffs and everything. I should say that the cost of shipping the um 31 Now, it's not Wait, why can I not remember? The 37717 included tariffs. Okay, that included everything. Um and I I appreciate that because if I have to try to calculate tariffs in my head, it's not going to be a good day. Um there's just too much changing for me to have felt comfortable doing that. So, I did really like that.

[00:23:01]The other thing that I felt was really important to point out is that you do get to pick who does the shipping for you, so what service you use for shipping. And that will that will not just affect how much it costs, but also how quickly you get your items and whether or not tariffs are included. So, if you go with certain types of shipping, tariffs may not be included.

[00:23:24]So, just make sure that you're reading each individual option because you do get to choose which service you use to ship your goods. Um so, it'll get to your store it'll get to the warehouse and then you get to say ship me the item. So, you can technically order five different orders from five different Chinese stores, have them all shipped to the Superbuy websites, I'm sorry, Superbuy warehouse, and then ship them all together.

[00:23:51]Um so, I didn't do that. I'm I can't walk you through how to do that, but I can tell you that they will not ship it until you tell them to and pay for shipping.

[00:24:01]So, technically you can get that done.

[00:24:03]They were relatively good about answering my questions when I asked them, so I didn't have any issues there and I was able to get those questions answered in English.
