ICSI Results!🐴 #horsebreeding #animalhusbandry #ICSI
It's been about a week since we did a round of ICSI on four of my mares. ICSI ICSI is a form of breeding that we do where we harvest the oocytes, essentially the eggs, and then outside of the mare's body, they will inseminate, they will fertilize those eggs with one sperm each. You can choose the stallion and maybe even do separate stallions. And then they wait for about a week and see how many of them turn into embryos. So Kennedy, this mare eating the grass on the other side of the fence even though she has a whole pasture over here, she was one that we did ICSI with. This time we chose to breed her to Machine Made, which is the sire of the foal that she had this year, Kirby. We also have another one coming this coming foaling season. And because going into this next breeding season, I believe I only had one or two of those embryos left, and I was going to make at least one embryo available for purchase, we decided to go with that stallion again. And this round she she did it good, y'all. Seven embryos.
Seven. That's crazy, girlfriend. So that gives us some leeway going into breeding season to, you know, if we wanted to do that cross again and put it into one of my own recip mares. But also what we'll be doing is most likely putting one of those embryos, or you know, sometimes it takes a try or two, putting it into a recip at a recip farm, offering that embryo for sale, and then the buyer would get the mare that already has the embryo in it at around 90 days so that you could insure the foal. Now just reminding you, going into this next foaling season breeding season, excuse me Ginger, this is not about you, I will be brokering all of my embryos, foals, any of my horse sales through a broker named Jenna Seppa. So if you are interested in purchasing an embryo from any of my mares or a foal going into the foaling season, then you will have to contact Jenna. It was just too big of a volume of not only horse people, but non-horse people, and it was really hard to weed through the comments and the messages, and so I think that'll be a really, really good way for actual buyers to end up purchasing foals or embryos. So, if you're one of those people, at least one VS The First Lady machine-made embryo will be available in 2026. So, Kennedy gave seven embryos. On to the next. Our next mare, who just got some treats, so she's probably going to make some funny faces for us, is Beyonce, aka KM Brandy Girl. So, I already had five embryos frozen with VS Code Red. She had two VS Code Red foals this year. We don't have any foals coming from her in 2026. So, I wanted to do a different cross with her, and I've already done one round of ICSI before with this stallion, which is Making Me Willie Wild, and we wanted to make sure we had more than one embryo going into foaling season and breeding season, so that if we needed more than one try, we could do it. So, we have now, after this round, three embryo No, four embryos, because she gave us three embryos from this one ICSI round with Making Me Willie Wild. So excited for that cross.
This next one almost makes me a little emotional, and we're not We shouldn't feel totally safe yet, but Miss Sophie, this is the first ICSI round she has ever given us embryos, and she gave us two.
Two Sophie embryos with VS Code Red.
Now, because she carries PSSM1, we are having her tested to see that those embryos are six-panel negative, and they are clean before we put them into a recipient mare.
We've done embryo transfer with her before, but we've never gotten a genetically clean embryo. Now, she's had genetically clean babies in the past, so it's possible I just had crap luck. So, we are hoping that these two embryos are perfect, and if so, potentially she could carry her own baby next year.
And last but not least is Big Booty Trudy. So, Trudy, my first mayor that ever made me a Congress champion producer, the combination that took to make that Congress champion was Trudy and Good Better Best. And now, after this round of ICSI, she got five embryos with Good Better Best.
So, I think I have seven or eight now frozen. So, she will be available to get an embryo from this coming year if that interests you. And she also gave four embryos with First Things First. Now, the Trudy baby we have coming in 2026 is with First Things First. She's one of the first mayors to have his baby next year. Next year is his first foal crop and that is my young stallion. So, super exciting that we will have embryos on hand if we wanted to redo that cross this coming year. We might be doing this with you next year cuz you kind of getting a little old, Missy. Yeah, but you pregnant right now. So, that is a total 21 embryos from one round of ICSI. My pocket does hurt, I will say, but I think it'll be amazing in the long run.
A little long run investment. Let me know if you have any questions and if you have any interest in purchasing an embryo, like I said, we will put them into recips ahead of time and then sell that recip carrying that baby.
We are now working together with Jenna Seppa for both foal sales and embryo sales. So, she's available to talk to on TikTok and Facebook. Yeah, let me know if you have any questions, but that was a very successful round of ICSI.
