The grid fins have been reduced from four to three, and each fin is now 50% larger and stronger and repositioned with new catch points and lowered on the booster to reduce heat exposure during hot staging. They have integrated hot staging, so this eliminates the disposable interstage shield booster dome. So, now it basically is directly exposed to that upper stage engine ignition.
