This segment covers the comprehensive preparation phase for mini split air conditioner installation. The process begins with clearing the installation space by removing old equipment like subwoofers and TV mounts, creating a functional workspace. The video then examines the mini split system components, including the indoor unit (evaporator), outdoor condenser, mounting brackets, refrigerant hoses, and electrical connections. Key specifications are reviewed, including the 15 amp electrical requirement and efficiency ratings (19 for cooling, 9.5 for heating). The segment demonstrates how to coordinate multiple deliveries, inspect components for completeness, and understand the relationship between indoor and outdoor units. This preparation phase establishes the foundation for successful installation by ensuring all components are present and properly understood.

Mini Split Project PART 02 - Waiting On The Equipment - Straightening Upインデックス作成:
In between hospital visits I had to come home for the Fed Ex delivery of the equipment. Needless to say, it did not show up in the original delivery window. Today is the 14th. It's about 1:38. Uh the mini split uh was supposed to be here between uh I said between 11:30 and 1:30. It's already uh 1:3 and and not here yet. So, I'm working on moving some more stuff around. I uh all the way over to the far right. I moved the uh uh that's a subwoofer, a really old one because that's from way back in uh probably before wind around Windows XP from one of those computers way back then. So, I'm just clearing that out. Let me go up here and do some more. Yeah, I think I got this TV mount when you know the the flat screen TVs were uh really really heavy and this thing is probably heavier than the TVs are right now. So, okay. So, here's the here's the fascia I pulled out. So, and I just had one on the side of the house that came loose and it's laying on the ground. So, I'm going to have to go out and uh nail that back up in place. And I have this old uh antenna here. I had it sitting up here.
I never used it. Well, because I wanted to mount it outside, but I never did.
So, I just uh set it up here. But yeah, that's what I wanted to do. I wanted to get the drill and bring this down.
Filters. Can you believe this shit?
And this box right here is the uh box for the Starlink. So, I can move down that line a little bit more cuz they have it uh secured up high.
Doesn't need to be that high.
Debbie had a blood transfusion today.
Wasn't too happy about that because I told her that this morning and she was all distraught about it.
Then the uh nurse practitioner for the orthopedic came in and said, "Well, once you're once you're done with that, then you're free to go. So there's no reason for you to be here. And 5 minutes later, nurse practitioner for infection control came in and says, "Well, well, when they opened up her incision the day before, they took another swab, so they haven't got it back, so she's going to have to wait for the results on that."
So she said another 24 to 72 hours.
So that's not what she wanted to hear.
There we go.
Now I got a nail in the way prevent me from taking it down any further. Yeah.
See, they got 1x3, 1x4.
Is that a 1x4? 2x4.
They alternated one by threes and by fours up here.
I guess that's just to hold the uh plywood together on the outside.
Pushing down.
Okay, let's see if I can see this other screw here somewhere.
Oh, there it is. It was behind the hammer.
The hammer was hiding it. Didn't want to start in there. Okay. So, I'm going to put this antenna up here temporarily.
Just store it up here out of the way. uh tile that we used.
Floor tile. Move this all the way over.
That'll give me some shelf space over here. And I got a little one by 1x4 right there that uh is holding up that part right there.
Okay. So, two locomotive boxes proto 2000.
And here's a Bachman Spectrum K4462 1961. paid $109 for it.
And this other one we paid $265.
Okay. So, we got all that cleared out over there. So, I've got clear space right here. And we got the air conditioning line down low enough so I could put my bracket over there now.
Antenna Starlink cuz it's a rental. because when we're ever finished with it, we return the equipment. So, I'll put that with this right here.
Maybe I'll just uh put it like I had it before.
This had this one right here.
Okay, now we got some room here. I was hoping they would be on time so I could get back and spend some time with Debbie because I was going to go back and spend the night with her.
Guess she's not in the best of mood right now.
All right, I just refreshed the uh FedEx website and it no longer says 11:30 to 1:30. It says by end of day. On Monday, I got the brackets in and I loosely connected. You know what we need? It goes like this.
These are the two legs on it right here.
Okay.
And then there's a piece that goes horizontally.
And then these things fit on there like that.
So that's ready to go.
I just need the mini split.
Well, that's the uh condenser probably. It says it comes in two packages.
So what FedEx is delivering today is just one package. It's only like nine pounds more than what the weight of the uh manufacturers weight is. So, it's probably in another box.
So, don't know when the rest of it's coming.
So, last night I did a little bit of time on the uh workbench and before I left this morning, I did something.
I painted the blue on this trolley. So, I don't know how well you could see that there, but uh there's the trolley.
And uh here is the uh pulleys.
So I don't know when I'm going to get a chance to work on them, but uh we'll see.
I just have to wait around.
And I told Debbie I'd be back as soon as the uh the delivery got here. I hate to call her up and tell her it says now it says it by the end of the day. Well, you can see I got a box here, but that's not the uh condenser that FedEx was shipping. This is this is coming from uh the local uh Ace pack and ship. They just dropped it off.
So, this is the uh the evaporator, the unit that goes inside. So, let's see what this looks like. And then I'll get out the template and that way I'll be able to determine where I could hang it and where I could put my uh 1x3's cuz this has a a a 3-in hole. It goes outside and I I got to make sure that I miss the 1x3 because it's down down low.
So, let's see.
what this thing looks like. I'm going to set it down on the ground here flat.
Okay, this looks like the top here. Do not step. Okay.
Okay, this one came this is Amazon ship and the other one's coming from New Jersey.
So hopefully I'll get it before well the the original time that they said was uh uh what they say 11:15 to 3:15.
So So hopefully it'll come by the original time.
Batteries and manual and some anchors.
cushions, um, vibration mounts, I guess, if you're mounting it on the floor.
And here's the remote signal cable.
And I the deal is probably on the bottom. So, let me open up the bottom instead of trying to lift this thing out of here.
Okay, here's this thing here.
Whatever that is.
There's the bracket mounted to it.
I still don't see the template anywhere.
There's the mount right there.
And I got it jammed in there pretty good on the cables.
There we go. All right. There's the mount.
There's all the >> hoses. Let me see.
Energy and efficient rating. Efficiency rating 19.
Heating efficiency rating 9.5.
Okay, let's look at the specs on the side.
15 amp.
So that's just a 15 amp circuit. Okay. So those other people that uh I was watching the videos on that were saying 20 amp. It must have been for a larger unit.
I'm just going to leave this up here until I'm ready to use this.
Okay, now that we know that it's 15 amp, I'm satisfied.
screws, instruction manual, Wi-Fi function, user manual, and no fucking template.
Okay, what we got here? Let me see.
Where's the box one template?
And that's pretty good size. So, where the fuck would it be? That was the one thing that I wanted that I needed to get started mounting the stuff on the inside and it is absent of that stuff.
So, the U filter on it seems pretty straightforward. You take that uh open up like I had it and just pull the thing out and it wraps all the way around it.
It just looks like a a window screen. Let me do this over again here.
I'm not going to put it back in the box, but I'm going to lay it on the box. And I'm going to make sure that these pushes right here. The batteries are in that little bag.
I threw the bag back in there. Get the batteries out. Okay.
That really pisses me off that there's no freaking template.
Safety precautions.
Bum bum.
Name of parts. Okay.
Indoor unit. Mounting plate. Front panel. Emergency button.
Air filter. All that good stuff there.
Okay. Name of parts. indoor display.
That's that right there.
That's the remote.
Yeah. Who cares about the remote? You know, where's the template?
You got to mount it before you operate the thing. Mounting plate. Indoor.
Take the mounting plate from the back of indoor unit.
Ensure to meet the minimum installation requirements. Yeah, they got the mounting uh all the way at the back after it tells you how to operate it.
Well, I emailed technical support and they uh wrote back promptly and said that uh with the order yesterday delivered and other one uh out for delivery and said uh you may uh find the template in the second box. If it's not in the second box, contact us contact us further.
Well, I measured outside where the electrical line comes in, and I I want to be like 7 in off to the right coming down where the uh refrigerant hoses are. So, I'm going to go up here and see if I could determine where it is.
I have it marked down here, but it goes straight up and I can see up on top where it is. So, I'll just measure over 7 in. So, I'll mark it on the styrofoam.
I already marked this piece right here or where I could drill some holes in it for I'll use this as the bottom. And since I got the the mounting bracket, I'll be able to determine how high to put the second one on top.
And then, uh we'll work from there. uh see exactly where. Maybe I could measure it on here.
So, I won't know the height, but And I left the mount up there, but I'll be able to get the uh distance from the edge.
Okay. So, this fits in here and that's like that. So, you got wiggle room right there.
So, the center line of the hoses is uh 5 and 1/2 in from the center line of that slot right there. So, 5 and 1/2 in over. Well, it would be on this side over here. So, 5 and 12 inches over there. And what did I say? Seven over on this side here.
So, about right here, I'm going to mark 7 in over. This is right where approximately.
So, I'm going to mark right here.
somewhere around there because right around right around here there's a vertical slot. So I could still be on the edge of the uh the vertical and the horizontal.
Okay. So we'll work from there. So I'm not a couple of screws on there and get the level up there. So what I'll do is I'll just uh drill some holes in here.
And all it says is uh 15 and a half or like uh 37 millimeters.
That's 14 in from either side and 200 millimeters from the ceiling. So, I got plenty of room there.
Do this one a little bit better.
All right. So, put that there.
Like so.
And I got to have the that height right there.
Okay.
And I got the U board right at the edge of where I marked the hole. So that's perfect. If I have to, I'll just move the bracket over if I need to once I get the template in.
So, let me get the other board.
goes right underneath the ladder, hidden by the paper towel folder. So, I got to take it up there and mark where the studs are. And then, uh, we'll drill some holes in it like we did on the other one. And then we'll be able to mount that one up there. And I think when I ever I put the unit up here, I'm going to put the extension ladder up here instead of that this ladder that it'll give me a little bit more leverage because it'll come all the way up to the top here.
And after all this is done, I might not even need the damn template.
And I left a drill up there. I always ding get dinged every time I do something. Got another casualty here.
Another scratch that bleeds forever.
Okay. And that my granddaughter on the phone. she called and uh want to know how Debbie was doing, where I'm at, and what I'm doing.
I have to give her a daily update on Debbiey's condition.
Okay. So, get this right there.
Make sure this is in the right spot right there. And then check for level.
getting tight.
Okay, so yeah, I got to come all the way over to here, huh?
That's still good.
I'll mark these in dark.
X on these over here.
Okay, there we go.
Now we got it.
Now we could hole right there.
And that should be 7 in from here.
Yeah, 7 in from where the cable comes up.
Okay.
Don't need no stinking template.
All right, so there we go.
Let me go see what the status is on this FedEx ship in here. Well, it's about 25 to 6 and it's still not here. And what I figured is they start up in Davenport. I guess he bypassed Sebring, made made his rounds going down and he's going to hit me up on the way back. I hope it isn't until 9:00 at night.
I hope I was hoping, you know, I told Debbie I was hoping it was 6:00. So, I got to give her a call at 6:00 this uh give her the bad news if it not here yet. But I have a feeling it ain't going to be here till around 8 o'clock or so because uh I remember some other times when uh you know it said by the end of the day it got here really really late.
So that's a predicament I'm in.
But at least I got, you know, this far.
I got the extension ladder up there. I took it apart and so it looks like that right there.
And so we'll uh be able to get up there a little bit easier, you know, once we got the other half uh in. Well, would you look at that?
Just got here. Quarter to 7. So, I'm going to open this up and just take a quick look at it and then head on back to the hospital.
Uh, I got to see if I find my where I put my pliers.
Okie dokie.
See the hoses and stuff.
Now the flanges for the wall, the putty, the tube.
Sun hose here.
Don't see no template down there.
Don't see it down here either.
Be no due possible solution.
new temper.
>> Yeah.
>> What I what do you want to do is measure >> where these feet are.
>> Okay. So, 16in center. Okay.
That's good to know. And this whole thing is across. Okay, that's 16 in center for >> I do not see anything on the bottom. So, nothing hidden in there. Nope.
>> No way.
>> No freaking template.
All right, there we go.
>> Finally got it in the end of the day.
At the end of the day.
At the end of the day. Yeah. So that matters though I pray. Just to feel good at the end of the day. At the end of the end of the day. You got to feel good at the end of the day. It's all that matters. Oh, I pray just to feel good at the end of the day.
